The IT Crowd - Some Concepts

The brief was to create a series of concepts / banner ads for a forthcoming Channel 4 sitcom, the IT Crowd.

1. Campaign title “Misconceptions”

The idea of this campaign is a series of banners presented from the I.T geeks’ point of view. They are trying to convince everyone that they have personalities, are interesting and worth talking to.

a) Banner with drop down options. User clicks
a rating and an appropriate reaction from the I.T. Crowd comes up.

Rate your friendly office I.T. guys now!
Are they:

Geeks – Oh Yeah? Well you’re not invited to watch The I.T. Crowd on C4, 9pm, Friday then!
Kind of smelly dweebs – Oh Yeah? Well you’re not invited to watch The I.T. Crowd on C4, 9pm, Friday then!
Über Nerds – Oh Yeah? Well you’re not invited to watch The I.T. Crowd on C4, 9pm, Friday then!
Scary basement dwellers – Oh Yeah? Well you’re not invited to watch The I.T. Crowd on C4, 9pm, Friday then!
Averagely useful – Above average my friend, as you will see when you watch The I.T. Crowd on C4, 9pm, Friday!
Awesome! – Too right! Come on and watch The I.T. Crowd on C4, 9pm, Friday!

~25 degrees~

Children simmering in the street like so many bubbles in a pot, wave garish ice poles like swords. They hit and tweak each other in red-cheeked irritation, one clammy hand grabs another, forgets it instantly, bored. It lets a wrapper fly groundwards, a kite dying on the still air, a giant confetti celebrating their heated fiesta, a bright sticky mess on the dull dirty ground.
Tropical parrots escaped from the zoo they squawk and scratch along the pavement, immitating giggles and pouts.

if you're up a tree, or wish you were up a tree, you might like this:

To Home from Peckham
Twilight hangs over me like the hot breath of a giant. He's been
eating raw fish and damp cardboard again and languidly flicking his
sucked chicken bones down onto the street. Pink flickers span the sky
silently, stealthily reaching downwards, poised to administer electric
tickles. Two muddied foxes skulk across the park and twitch over to
the fence, looking back as if to make sure no-one has followed them.
There's only room for two in their musky haven, safe from the
streamers and claps above.

The sky sits thickly in its grey shroud. Temperamental bolts reveal
hidden limbs, grotesque and elegant the lightning boasts a shadow
puppet show. Its characters strobe into view, the scenes changing too
rapidly to follow. Structureless, the play bursts before me as the
tireless actors choreograph their fearsome dance. A rolling drum beat
echoes an accompaniment but the ritual summons no rain.

Blue red white stripy train, a ghost hand muddles inside me as if
trying to find my appendix. I squint through the neon shadowed ghost
of myself and into the dark to spy out familiar locations. An estate
winks at me, teasing me like an old accomplice who knows just where my
weaknesses lie. The train trundles on through the angrily impatient
rain dance.
